Quality Standards and Checks Now Required for Galvanized Roofing

“Galvanized coils and sheets used as roofing materials will now need to undergo mandatory quality checks before these can be sold in the market to ensure consumer safety, said the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

According to a department administrative order (DAO) issued in December of 2020, hot-dip metallic-coated and prepainted galvanized coils and sheets need to come from local or foreign manufacturers that have a valid Philippine Standard (PS) Quality Certification License, which assures the public that the products they are buying pass quality and safety standards.”

DTI DAO 20-10 sets minimum product standards for the coated steel thickness of Galvanized Sheets. The newly signed DTI- DAO 20-10 calls for a minimum coated steel roof of 0.4mm thickness.  DTI Bureau of Product Standards will conduct market sampling and testing of galvanized steel roof sheets that are being sold in nationwide hardware stores as the per the mandatory Philippine Standard (PS) certification and marking on the product.

Puyat Steel Corporation fully supports DTI DAO 20-10 in its entirety as it protects the Filipino consumer. As the Philippine pioneer manufacturer in galvanized corrugated steel roofing since 1956, we remain committed to providing quality roofing products.
